During the first appointment, an intake, which also allows for an initial introduction and – if agreed upon – can partially include the introduction of immediately applicable tools, a treatment plan will be proposed. This plan is fully customized and utilizes various treatment methods, such as:

- EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) combines tapping with psychology’s exposure therapy (focusing on whatever is distressing you) and cognitive behavior therapy (reframing).
- ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)
Psychotherapeutic treatment can be either short-term or long-term – in some cases, lasting more than a year. The duration depends on the specific needs, the desired situation, and the nature of the concerns.
The frequency of sessions varies from person to person, but especially in the early stages, it is desirable to schedule weekly or bi-weekly sessions. Therapie Amsterdam Noord is led by Kim Niekerk, an experienced psychosocial therapist and hypnotherapist. Kim, born in Amsterdam and with an international background, has received extensive training in psychology. Due to her diverse education, she is able to apply a wide range of treatment methods and work with clients to create a tailored treatment plan, adjusted to their specific needs. In addition to her work as a therapist, she has years of experience as a filmmaker, has taught sports and yoga classes, facilitates mindfulness-based stress reduction training, and has traveled extensively. It is an honor for her to offer online consultations internationally, with flexible scheduling options that account for different time zones. On weekdays, Central European Time, she is also available for consultations in her practice at Meeuwenlaan 161 in Amsterdam North, just 3 minutes by bike from the ferry to Amsterdam Central Station.
